Why this matters in Florida+
Travertine is a soft, porous stone full of natural voids, and Florida is hard on it. Chlorine splash-out, sunscreen, hard rain and acidic cleaners open the pits back up, etch the surface and leave the stone chalky. High-pressure washing makes it worse — it strips the factory fill and permanently roughs the face. We clean at low pressure with stone-safe chemistry, hone out etching and scratches with diamond abrasives, fill the open holes to match, then seal with a penetrating impregnator. Travertine restoration runs $3.50–$6.50 per square foot.
Step 1 — coverage
Our process
Four steps, one visit
- 01
Stone ID and test patch
We confirm it is travertine, check the existing sealer, and restore a small area so you see the finish before we commit.
- 02
Low-pressure deep clean
Stone-safe chemistry lifts algae, sunscreen and mineral haze without blasting fill out of the holes.
- 03
Hone and fill
Diamond passes flatten etching and lippage; open pits and chips are filled and color-matched flush.
- 04
Seal
A penetrating sealer soaks in so spills, chlorine and rain sit on top instead of staining the stone.

FAQ
Travertine questions
Can travertine be cleaned with a pressure washer?+
It should not be. High pressure strips the factory fill out of the natural holes and leaves the surface permanently rough and chalky. We clean travertine at low pressure with stone-safe chemistry, then fill and seal.
Can chipped or pitted travertine be repaired?+
Yes. Open holes, chips and popped fill are patched with color-matched material and honed flush, so the deck or floor reads as one continuous surface again.
Why does my travertine look dull or have white marks?+
That is acid etching — pool chemicals, citrus, wine or the wrong cleaner chemically eat the surface. It is damage, not a stain, so it is honed out mechanically and then refinished.
Should travertine be sealed in Florida?+
Yes, especially on pool decks and lanais. A penetrating sealer slows algae staining, resists chlorine and sunscreen, and makes routine cleaning far easier. Most Florida travertine needs re-sealing every two to three years.
What does travertine restoration cost?+
Travertine work runs $3.50–$6.50 per square foot depending on the condition, how much hole filling is needed and the finish you want. You get a flat price after the test patch.
